Blackguard Gully was the site of major riots against the Chinese miners in 1861. They were driven from their camp, and their possessions burnt and destroyed. They were forced to seek refuge at "Currawong" station, 20 kms away.
Situated off the Murringo Road on the outskirts of Young, the Blackguard Gully Reserve still displays evidence of the mining activity that took place here.
With some imagination one could visualise the dramatic scenes and hear the noise of the drama that happened so long ago.
